It's my first day in the office after a 10-day vacation.

Back to reality.

But still, the images of vacation is at the back of my mind...

Ahh, I love summer.

Umagang Kay Ganda
by The New Minstrels

Halika na pumikit limutin ang problema
Hihintayin ang umaga
Magpahinga, panaginip ang ikaliligaya
Darating din ang umaga

[CHORUS]
Basta't tayo'y magkasama
Laging mayro'ng umagang kay ganda
Pagsikat ng araw
May dalang liwanag
Sa ating pangarap, ooh...
haharapin natin (haharapin natin)

Magpahinga, panaginip ang ikaliligaya
Darating din ang umaga

[CHORUS]
Basta't tayo'y magkasama
Laging mayro'ng umagang kay ganda
Pagsikat ng araw
May dalang liwanag
Sa ating pangarap, ooh...
haharapin natin (haharapin natin)

[BRIDGE]
Ang sikat ng araw
Na may dalang liwanag

[CHORUS]
Basta't tayo'y magkasama
Laging mayro'ng umagang kay ganda
Pagsikat ng araw
May dalang liwanag
Sa ating pangarap, ooh...
haharapin natin (haharapin natin)

Well what do you know, i'm here in Laoag City, northern part of the Philippines.  As I've said in my last post, my family will be travelling from south to north as part of our so-called summer vacation.  We stopped over at Baguio City, stayed overnight there, and then proceeded here the next day.  After a night of rest at Laoag, we went to Pagudpud, a beach haven here in the north.  Whew! it was really very tiring but the kids had fun.  Right now, the kids and I are here in the town internet cafe to have a half hour of web surfing (yeah, we can't let go of our city ways, heh-heh).  Later when we go back, we'll have a calesa ride!

Sorry, no photos and music yet, it will take a long time posting them here... i'm paying by the minute y'know....

So until then...

family bonding time

Tomorrow marks the start of our (family's) official 10-day vacation.  Hubby and I will take a leave from the office and the kids' final exams end today!  Hooray, school's out at last!

We're going to Baguio City, that's the summer capital of the Philippines, which will take about 6-7 hours drive from our place.  We'll stay overnight there, then proceed to Laoag, a further 7 hours drive more.

So right now, I'm making sure that all my 2-weeks worth of office work will be done by today, aargh!!!  Then add to that my last minute listing of what to bring during the looong driving hours.  Shall I bring my i-pod?  Is the battery fully charged?  Will it last the entire course?  Note: my car charger got stuck the first time i used it, it took a car mechanic to remove the charger... so I'm now hesitant to use it.... Maybe I'll just burn tons of mp3s in a CD and just play it while driving... that is, if I still have time to do that tonight... oh well.  Talk about last minute preparations...

I'm not sure if I can post during my vacation, but I'm planning to bring the laptop with me... just in case I got bored in the province, heehee.

I'll post lots of photos as soon as we come back...

the art in me

I'm going crazy over POP ART lately... Warhol style... Lich..er..something style... Photoshop...

I've already installed Photoshop 7 to my PC at home... I've got lots of pictures to choose from, which I'd tweak and turn into something artsy... thus, pop art!

What I'm planning is to make pop art out of our family photos.. hmmm that would be really nice... and then I'll have it printed and framed.. then hang it as a house decor...

So for now I'm going to bombard the net and look for tutorials on how to go about this...

Problem is... I'm not really artistic at all... but hey, I have the drive though...

Wish me luck!

No Fear!

“He who is not everyday conquering some fear has not learned the secret of life.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

It's just around 10mins drive from our house but as embarassing as it is, we haven't visited the place.  I kept putting it off -- lots of excuses -- that it's just so near so we can always go there whenever we want;  that the entrance fee is kinda pricey (and i think it's getting higher every year?);  but maybe the real reason is that I'm actually scared to try the rides.  So, after 7 years of delay -- and much to the delight of my kids -- I finally decided to set foot on Enchanted Kingdom

http://koolbirks.com/misc/enchanted-kingdom/IMG_3413.jpg

These are the rides we tried:

We started with the Up, Up and Away Air Balloon ride -- sort of dizzying, not quite fun.  But there were still lots of rides to try...

Mini Roller Coaster (I forgot what it's called, but it's a tamed version of their major roller coaster) -- Migs rode this alone... then Andy and I joined him... this ride will be enjoyed not only by kids but grown-ups too.  exciting enough...

Flying Fiesta -- more like flying chairs/swing -- now this sets the adrenalin high... scary but you'll still feel secure...

Rio Grande -- this is fun!  prepare to get wet on this ride... the fun is in getting wet, actually.  this is also the ride with the longest queue, but it's worth the wait!

Anchors Away -- you'll be seated on a pirate ship that rocks back and forth, starting from a short distance, then swinging as far as 90degrees from the ground.  It looks very boring and safe, but once you're there it feels so much different, and kinda scary but fun.  I rode this with the kids and I'm so proud of us, hee.

Log Jam -- again, a water ride, and you'll be getting wet for sure.  The most exciting part is the 26m drop, complete with your photo taken by them!  The photo was PhP199 per shot...kinda expensive for me, so I didn't buy it.  I'm such a cheapskate!

Rialto -- a movie theater ride, lasting about 8mins long...with the seats moving synchronized with the film movements... a 4D theater?  not much fun, but it's different...

Wheel of Fate -- this is one HUGE Ferris Wheel.  Only hubby, Pauline and Andy rode this.  The three of us, Alexa, Migs and I thought it was a waste of time -- it took more than 5 mins to finish and we wanted to try the more daring rides...so...

The Space Shuttle -- now this is THE ride... check out some of its kewl specs i got from rollercoaster database

Length:  935'
Height:  116' 6"
Inversions:  3
Speed:  47 mph
Duration:  1:48
G-Force:  5.2
Elements:  Cobra Roll (Boomerang) Loop

Andy was not allowed to ride the Space Shuttle and Log Jam coz she didn't meet the height requirement -- she's just seven, you know.  But she bravely tried all the other rides!  Hubby came late, he dropped by at the office to finish some work.  Deep inside I think it's just his delaying tactics, hahaha!  Well I was a bit right, actually coz the most daring ride he took was the flying fiesta, hee-hee.

Needless to say, after riding the Space Shuttle, all the other rides were just a piece of cake...

aah...that 4 day vacation was just sweet!  i was able to accomplish a lot of things like... like... sleep! haha!

no, seriously it was a pure bonding moment for the kids and me.

we finished together the Season 3 of House, MD.  while munching on bowls of buttered popcorn.

hubby and i went to the mall and we bought the kids new bedsheets and then 12 pillows for all of us.  but old habits just don't die and we can't let go of the old pillows.  now our bed is full of pillows that there's little space for me to sleep on.  oh well.

pauline and i did miguel's school project... ok, i let migs do some of it, but he kept ruining the papier mache so i just let him watch us, heh-heh.

and the greatest accomplishment of all:  i organized the dvd's -- threw away the cases and put the cds in an organizer -- result? less and i really mean less clutter! whew!  now my shelf can breathe.

VOILA! look ma, no clutter!

equivalent of 3 trash bags, just for the cases alone!

...i was pretty busy the whole weekend but then last night i had a dream... a wonderful one... but it will remain just that...  a dream...
