earth-bound

Feeling extremely hot and cold during the summer and winter seasons... La Nina, El Nino... global warming... these are signs that our environment is headig for the worse...

So time to give back to mother earth.  Last Friday, volunteers from our office headed to Bukid Kabataan Farm in Gen. Trias, Cavite and planted banana trees on their farm.  Bukid Kabataan is sort of a shelter for abused children.  Our company pledges support for this center, year in and year out.

I brought along my 3 kids - Pauline couldn't make it coz she was sick.   (Of course, hubby was there also)  Anyway, we had fun, and the kids appreciated the tree planting and helping the environment.  Not only that, I guess they now realize how lucky they are to have parents like us, heh-heh.

Check out our photos...

One thing I like about the company I'm currently working in is its Community Programs which give us, the employees, the opportunity to help.  Middle of this year we had the chance to lend a hand to Gawad Kalinga, a non-profit organization that builds houses for the needy.  There we helped paint newly constructed houses and did some minor construction work.  Then last week, we had a Christmas Party for Bukid Kabataan, an orphanage, and we distributed gifts, played games with the kids, eat, had fun!  Of course, this would not be complete without the usual photo *shoots*...

panicking?

Am I panicking or am I being simply indifferent?  Maybe I'm now panicking because I'm being indifferent to the whole situation.  See, it's just 18 days 'til Christmas and I haven't bought a single gift yet!

Well, actually I bought one the other day and wrapped it this morning in time for tomorrow's gift giving as part of our company's charity program, "Bukid Kabataan".  Here, we give gifts to orphaned kids (they have a wish list, so we won't have a hard time thinking of what to give them) in time for Christmas.  The one assigned to me is an 11yr old boy who wished for a pair of rubber shoes. Rubber shoes are quite expensive, so I chose "World Balance" shoes, a local brand with good quality but still within my budget.  The gift giving will be tomorrow (we'll have a program at a park in Ayala Alabang) so there, at least I already gave something for Christmas this year.

But what about for the others??? Gaaaad!  I don't even have a list of whom to give gifts to.  I have to make a schedule first.  Let's see: Day 1, make list.  Day 2, compute budget.  Day 3-4, buy gifts.  Hey, maybe this will only take 4 days, so who's panicking now?  After all, as I've said...it's still 18 more days to go 'til Christmas... So maybe I'll start panicking on the 21st of December...
